Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana)

$20.00
5 for

Conical and fragrant tree. Tolerant of drought, black walnut, pollution, and salt. Fantastic living fence in urban or rural areas due to its hardiness once established. Mature height of 40-50′ with a spread of 8-15 feet. Grows to Full or Partial Sun. Native to Massachusetts.

Size: 6-12″ bare root seedling

On Dr. RJ Gegear’s list of plants for at risk insects as a host plant for Juniper Hairstreak, a native butterfly. Small mammals and birds, including the cedar waxwing, eat the waxy blue berry-like cones. Can be a host of apple-cedar rust so caution should be taken planting near apple trees.
