Numerous white flower heads with lavender shading. Flowers bloom mid-spring to early summer. Penstemon Mystica leaves will turn to brilliant red in fall and persist into early winter.
It is typically about 3 feet tall but can reach up to 5 feet in height. Penstemon has been known to grow in meadows and fields, attracting a wide range of pollinators, typically long-tongued bees due to the length of the tubular flowers. Good for cut flowers, good for containers. Resistant to deer and rabbits.
Blooms late spring summer. Full sun, average to dry soils. Attracts bees and hummingbirds. Photo Credit: Chicago Botanic Garden
