3 for

Oaks are a keystone species that support diverse wildlife from rural to urban areas. Chinquapin have round crown that create great shade. Shiny green leaves and shaggy bark. Best oak for alkaline soils. Will tolerate compacted soils. Full Sun. Grows to 40–60’ with a similar spread. Native to Massachusetts but relatively rare.

12-24″ bare root seedling

Bears, deer, birds, and small mammals all rely on oaks for food and shelter. Oak species support a greater diversity of insects than any other genus in North America, and many other wildlife rely on oaks for food and habitat.
