Valuable as an ornamental landscape plant and for wildlife habitat. Star-shaped flowers bloom in early spring. Matures height 15-30’ and spread of 8-18′ when grown as a multi-trunk shrub but can grow taller if kept to single truck. Full or partial sun. Tolerates a wide range of soil types and moisture. Low maintenance. Good for edges of fields or woods. Great street tree in general but especially as an alternative to Callery pear. The sweet, juicy pomes are among the most edible of all the serviceberries, and are useful in making jams, pies, or dried. Native to Massachusetts.
