Sweet Cherry “Kristin”
$40 for one bare root sapling
Developed in Geneva, New York, ‘Kristin’ is one of the hardiest sweet cherries, withstanding minus 25°F temperatures, and below.
Grown for its ornamental features as well as its delicious fruits. Blooms in spring in rounded clusters of small, fragrant white flowers before the foliage emerges. Abundant crops of large, glossy, dark-burgundy fruit follow, ripening in July. A “black oxheart” type, the sweet cherries have firm, meaty, juicy flesh with sweet, richly aromatic flavor, excellent for fresh eating.
Needs a pollinator, that is, another sweet cherry, planted within 100′ to set fruit. “Emperor Francis” is suitable.
