Part 2 is a live demonstration and discussion on how to install Bluebird boxes in your backyard. Purchasing one from WCCD helps support our conservation district efforts. Purchased boxes will be brought to the Part 2 demonstration on March 24th.
These bird boxes are locally sources materials and custom built by our own WCCD Supervisors, Tom Ashton and Joshua Soojian.
The material for this bluebird nesting box is rough sawn white pine, which was cut on a band sawmill in Southern Worcester County. These boards were air dried, and the difference in color is the surface which was exposed to the sky during this period. The box was constructed utilizing a blueprint available from the U.S.D.A Natural Resource Conservation Service. The boxes themselves are imperfect, but the birds won’t mind!
