Who: The WCCD’s goal is to protect and enhance the soil, water and other natural resources of Worcester County. This fundraiser enables us to provide conservation assistance, in cooperation with the USDA and NRCS, to landowners on issues related to water quality, pollution, erosion control, forest management and farm resource management. We also provide education and sponsor workshops of local interest.
Why: To provide a wide variety of seedlings that will beautify your landscape, provide shade, cut energy costs, and provide shelter and food for wildlife. Planting something green will reduce greenhouse gases and help you do your part in addressing global warming.
What to Expect: Your seedlings arrive dormant. Tree seedlings are bare root, and will range in size which is dependent on growing and weather conditions. We work with growers to estimate the size of these tree seedlings at harvest which should only be used as a guide. Tree seedlings are protected by damp packing and must be kept moist, away from wind and sun, planted promptly or ‘heeled in’ if planting is delayed. During the first year, the key to survival is regular watering, especially during dry spells. We strive to deliver healthy plants, however, we cannot guarantee their survival after pick up. Please inform us at pick up time if you question the quality of your order. There are no refunds after orders are picked up.
Acknowledgements: Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for their time and knowledge in helping us identify, tag and pack seedling orders. We are also grateful to local businesses who continue to support our seedling sale year after year.
Please order your seedlings using our secure, online store. All items must be picked up on Saturday, May 2nd between 9 am and 12 noon only.
